DCI-P3 though. At least 4K options are starting to appear, but no HDR and no 3D is dropping the ball a bit. I suspect it's going to be extremely difficult to get HDR looking subjectively 'good' when you only have ~1500:1 native contrast as these new DLP DMDs seem to be measuring in.
Ultra HD Premium Certification, ie what professional display engineers deem to be a subjectively 'good' HDR experience, say the display needs to have 20000:1 on/off contrast performance to achieve this. I think this is why we aren't seeing these DLP '4K' DMD units even bother with HDR. We'll see what the Acer unit can do, but I'd say if the $30,000 Sim2 Nero 4 isn't offering HDR, you can bet the 'cheap' Acer unit won't.

And that's only if you can hit 1000 nits, which no projector will do at a reasonable screen size. If you can't hit 1000nits, the UHD Premium spec calls for over 1,000,000:1 contrast. But frankly 1500:1 isn't acceptable even for SDR.
That wasn't even competitive a decade ago, certainly not at the price they seem to be asking for these 4K DLPs. Now if they were $1000, it would be a different story.
It's being officialy presented ay ISE in Amsterdam, which is held from the 7th (today) to the 10th of February. Test should follow soon. It was on demo in a blacked out room against the W11000 I spent some time there yesterday and chatted to their technical guy about the details and differences. I was told the X12000 will be €2000 more than the W11000. The demo was REC709 material but with the X12000 producing P3 colours from 709 source! I got an apology for the incorrect cartoon colour demo 'but marketing wanted it like that' the W11000 looked better as colours were correct, I was offered to change the X12000 to 709 but we had to clear out of the demo room for some filming and it didn't get offered again. Specs are supposed to be the same ~2200 lumens colour wheel and LED refresh rate equivalent, it sounded like this was locked in to the Ti chipset.
There was very slight rainbow on a Zebra scene (B&W) but minimal and you had to try hard to catch it. Colour wheel speed is equivalent to 6x at 24p, 4x at 60p, 5x at 50p but I'm not sure I completely understood the explanation, it sounded like it's more complicated than usual with this DLP chip. No 3D possible with the Ti chipset, also no 120Hz even at 1080p, I asked about 50Hz & 60Hz operation and this has to be 4:2:2 but it's possible, 10G HDMI I guess but a different vendor told me they have 18G HDMI but the Ti chipset doesn't allow 4:4:4 at 60hz. I don't know if there is any motion artefact at 50 & 60 as the demos were all 24p but the wobulation can be turned off if it's a problem at 60Hz. In Silence mode it's possible to see the (square) pixel grid and the image is crisper but not necessarily 'better'. I asked if it was possible to input at the native pixel resolution, again Ti chip doesn't allow this.
